Lake Hartwell

Had to catch one more day on the Lake before leaving for Florida. Lake Hartwell was one of the biggest highlights while in South Carolina. We were able to get out one more time, trying to catch the leaves changing but they were not quite ready. As you can see it really is a beautiful lake.

Dave in his happy place and Trish enjoying the ride too. We always have such a great time just hanging on the boat and seeing the beauty of the area.

Lake Hartwell is a man-made reservoir bordering Georgia and South Carolina and encompassing parts of the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca rivers. Lake Hartwell is one of the Southeastern United States’ largest recreation lakes.

The lake was created by the construction of the Hartwell Dam, completed in 1962 and located on the Savannah River seven miles below the point at which the Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers join to form the Savannah.

Extending 49 miles up the Tugaloo and 45 miles up the Seneca at normal pool elevation, the lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with a shoreline of 962 miles. The entire Hartwell “Project” contains 76,450 acres of land and water.
