Janes Island State Park

Janes Island State Park is a public recreation area on Chesapeake Bay lying adjacent to the city of Crisfield in Somerset County, Maryland. The state park features some thirty miles of marked water trails through the island’s salt marsh leading to isolated pristine beaches. The park is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Named one North America’s best paddle trails by the American Canoe Association.

This was another fun bridge that looked like it was going to take me right into never never land and into the water! It just amazes me the amount of work it must have taken to build these massive bridges.

I got a perfect campsite on the end near the boat launch, so I could easily take my kayak in and out. I kayaked several hours a day while here, maybe paddled around fifteen of the thirty miles.

This place by far has been one of my favorite locations as it is a kayaking mecca. The campground was very nice, and the staff was spectacular. I was informed by the ranger that they offered a sunset kayak trip going out to the Chesapeake Bay, so I booked a second night to take advantage of that trip!
