Wisdom and Folly

TODAY’S SCRIPTURES PROVERBS 9:7-18

Verses 7-8 Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.

Verses 9-12 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.

Verses 13-18 Folly is an unruly woman; she is simple and knows nothing. She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way, “Let all who are simple come to my house!” To those who have no sense she says, “Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!”  But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are deep in the realm of the dead.

CATHY’S THOUGHTS PROVERBS 9:7-18

Verses 7-8 Basically, these verses are saying don’t try to correct or help someone who is arrogant and prideful. They are not going to listen, and they are going to turn around and just make you look like a fool for trying to help them. However, those that are wise will welcome correction and help from a friend that cares about them.

Verses 9-12 if we are wise, we are always willing to learn and open to guidance and suggestions. Having a small understanding of the awesomeness of God is our first step to wisdom. If we choose to be unwise our life will be full of suffering.

Verses 13-18 lack of good sense makes us an unruly woman. She tries to lure others into her stupid and foolish ways and destroys them too. Beware of people that are not seeking GODS wisdom.
