TODAY’S SCRIPTURES

Psalm 25:14-22 New International Version (NIV)
The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.

Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me!

Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you. Deliver Israel, O God,

TODAY’S MESSAGE

Lord, thank you that with You I’m not alone even in my times of loneliness. This Christmas, help me to enjoy my fellowship with You and to reach out to others.

WITH JESUS AT CHRISTMAS, WE ARE NEVER ALONE

CATHY’S THOUGHTS

I know what’s it’s like to feel alone on Christmas. For many years I was in the military and then worked in the ski industry so I never was with my family for Christmas. Also, as a single women it’s sometimes a little uncomfortable being with the gracious friends that open up their homes and invite me to join them and their families. To me this is a family time and I almost feel like I’m intruding on that precious time with their families; even though I appreciate their kindness.

Without the company of the Lord, I would find this time of year VERY difficult and lonely. But because I have a very close relationship with the Lord, I’m good even if it means spending time alone on Christmas day. I also focus on the REAL meaning behind Christmas and this is a time to celebrate Jesus, it’s not about me anyway. I don’t get all caught up in the marketing, promotions, and worldly trappings and that helps me also. Then I also plan a specific time that I will be with my family and keep in touch as much as we can.

That is works for me, what about you if you find this time of year to be a bit of challenge sometimes.
